The finest creative talents from across the Asia-Pacific region collaborate on a project that captures each of their different urban landscapes and cultures.

CREATIVE©ITIES is a celebration of the inner life of Asia’s most exciting cities. Jackson Tan, of Singapore-based Black Design, is the curator of the inaugural exhibition, taking place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, as part of the Kaohsiung Design Festival. The featured cities are Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. More than 250 creatives – from the fields of design, art, music and more – have participated in the exhibition, with 1,200 works on show for visitors to enjoy. The hopes and dreams of each city are reflected through the recommendations of the creators living in them.

“CREATIVE©ITIES is a visual collection of the people, places and projects that shapes the city’s creative scene. We have invited the creators to help us map the creativity and stories of their cities,” Tan says. Each city’s creative heart is represented for its own unique offerings, as well as in relation to the regional dynamic between cities. Cities of tomorrow are envisioned alongside different interpretations of what it means to be a creative modern city. CREATIVE©ITIES spearheads the fifth Kaohsiung Design Festival, and coincides with Kaohsiung’s hosting of the Asia Pacific Cities Summit.

The exhibition runs through January 12, 2014 at Pier-2 Art Center, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
